How Effective Is The High-Alkaline Diet?

A high-alkaline diet, sometimes also known as the acid alkaline diet, or just the alkaline diet, is an excellent nutritionally-balanced system that can help you shed those excess pounds, maximize your energy, and help you to overcome a number of common health issues.

But why would you be interested in a high-alkaline diet? Well, in the first place, the natural state of the human body is a bit alkaline. Our blood, for example, is slightly alkaline, and has a normal pH of between 7.35 and 7.45. Our other body fluids vary in their pH, but in overall terms, the human body is slightly alkaline.

If your diet contains an excess amount of acidic food, excess acid will accumulate in your body. This leads your body to try to bring your pH level back into balance, but at the cost of causing a loss of those important alkalizing minerals. The continuing intake of excess acid will eventually lead to illness.

By making the decision to adopt an alkaline diet, you will be reducing the amount of acid that you would otherwise introduce into your body. You will feel more energetic; your mineral levels and therefore your bone strength will be improved; and you will experience a naturally healthy and well-balanced diet that will promote weight loss.

The foods that create the most acidity in our diets are meat and poultry, fish and seafood, most dairy products, eggs, most varieties of legumes and grains, iodized salt, sugar and other sweeteners, beverages that contain added sugar, and alcohol.

On the other hand, high-alkaline diet foods include the majority of fruits and vegetables, some nuts and seeds, some whole grains, lentils, and healthy beverages. Our ancient ancestors ate a mostly alkaline diet. This is because the foods that they ate were completely fresh, whole, and unrefined.

One thing is for sure: A high-alkaline diet will not only build a healthier body, it will also help you to lose weight and keep it off for life.
